Headache and Migraine Options
The nerves in the upper region of the cervical spine (neck) affect many functions in the head, including muscle tension, the sinus mucosa (lining) responsible for sinusitis, the blood supply into the head (via the vertebral artery), the tension of the pterygoid muscles (which can cause TMJ), and even be related to swelling in the inner ear (affecting balance and vertigo). For this reason, it is imperative that anyone with headaches see a chiropractor to be examined for mechanical irritation of the upper cervical nerves. Up to 95% of headaches have some or all of their cause stemming from the cervical spine ("cervico-genic"), and correction of this cervical problem can alleviate most headaches. It is extremely safe and does not involve any drugs, with their many side effects.
Even migraine headaches can respond extremely well to chiropractic care
A study published in 1998 in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics noted that 11 million Americans suffer (needlessly) from migraine headaches. They compared chiropractic care to conventional medical treatment (drugs) for clinical efficacy (effectiveness). In the post-treatment follow-up period, a far higher percentage of patients who received chiropractic adjustments experienced reduction of their headaches. The study showed chiropractic spinal adjusting to be effective as a treatment for migraine headaches. In fact chiropractic is not a "treatment' for headaches at all, but simply aims to reduce the nerve irritation associated with spinal dysfunction (known as "subluxations" in the spine), which when corrected has the ability to allow normal pain free function to return. The symptomatic relief of headaches, TMJ, or dizziness is just an added benefit of health restoring chiropractic care!
We have had amazing results with headache sufferers
(see our testimonial page). You may also be able to live a life free of pain, even if you have "tried everything." Endless numbers of CAT scans, MRIs, EEGs and blood work does nothing to fix the problem causing the trouble if you have a nerve problem creating your headaches. Even drugs don't correct the trouble, they too often only mask the symptoms, while causing other potentially dangerous side effects. Is aspirin, or ibuprofen the answer? They are classified as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs known as NSAIDs, which kill more than 16,000 people a year, every year. NSAIDs: Deadlier than previously thought
It is conservatively estimated that 16,500 nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) deaths occur among rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis patients every year in the U.S
